Token economy was a difficult idea for me too embrace in the beginning. I thought students would simply work for good grades or for positive input from their teachers. I did not realize in the beginning that token economy meant that students were working for a specific reward.
In my classroom I use the " I am working for......." charts and this has been very successful in my classroom. I created a Token Board for each student and also created a picture folder using Board Maker that holds pictures of what they are choosing to work for on that day. This has worked best in my classroom while in others or with other students it may need to be individualized to the student.
